keeps us safe.
Real Safety PAC supports and invests in electing movement leaders across Michigan to fiercely advocate for bold, progressive policies that protect all of us.

Who We Are
Washtenaw County Sheriff Alyshia Dyer's historic 2024 victory demonstrated that bold, progressive candidates don't need to play political games or cozy up to establishment power structures to run for office, win elections, and make meaningful change.
Building on this momentum, Real Safety supports progressive challengers and incumbents throughout Michigan who have the political courage and compassion to boldly advocate for the social, racial, environmental, and economic justice that keeps people and communities safe.
Our Values
Justice.
We're done with a system that criminalizes poverty and protects privilege. Real safety means dismantling systemic racism, ending mass incarceration, and building a criminal legal system rooted in care, fairness, and community.
Dignity.
No one should live in fear of family separation or deportation. We stand with immigrant communities, refuse to cooperate with ICE, and fight for a Michigan where everyone belongs—no exceptions.
Integrity.
We don't answer to corporations, lobbyists, or megadonors. Our loyalty is to the people—not the powerful. We're building a movement that money can't buy and establishment power brokers can't control.
Solidarity.
Working people keep this state running. It's time they share in the power and the profits. We fight alongside Unions for higher wages, better benefits, safer jobs, and a future where every worker is empowered, protected, and thriving.
Sustainability.
Climate change isn't tomorrow's problem; it's today's public safety emergency. We're cutting carbon, defending our land and water, and holding corporate polluters accountable for the harm they've done.
Freedom.
Democracy means dissent. We defend the right to protest, organize, and speak truth to power, because when people come together, we are unstoppable.
Want to win with us?
Real Safety PAC accepts endorsement applications on a rolling basis from candidates and ballot proposals in Michigan. Our focus areas include local elections in Washtenaw County, elections that directly impact the criminal legal system, and bold, progressive candidates taking on entrenched power structures to deliver for the people of Michigan communities.
We specifically prioritize candidates and causes with:
-
Strong alignment with our values—and a plan to put those values into action when elected.
-
A willingness to take bold, honest stances on important issues, understanding that political leadership means having honest conversations within community about why these issues matter, not waiting for a poll, consultant, or establishment group to say what is "on message".
-
The demonstrated courage to confront the status quo to make meaningful change.
-
A realistic plan to win the election and build power, or the willingness to work with us and receive technical assistance to develop a path to victory.
-
An approach toward campaigning and governing that helps build a progressive movement, brings people into the political process, and raises consciousness in our communities around important issues.
For endorsed candidates and causes, we can provide:
-
Technical assistance in campaign strategy, including political strategy, paid media, earned media, voter contact efforts, operations, and procurement.
-
Fundraising assistance in creating fundraising plans, training campaign staff/personnel, and developing digital fundraising programs.
-
A community of bold progressive candidates and campaigns that lift each other up by sharing appropriate insights, ideas, and opportunities.
For some candidates in key races, we may provide financial or in-kind support.
As part of an endorsement relationship, we expect:
-
Access to as-needed meetings with candidates and campaign staff to discuss how the race is going and how we can help.
-
Candidates and campaigns to not pursue endorsement from groups that substantially conflict with our values, such as corporate PACs and groups that support violations of human rights, including genocides.
Our endorsement process includes a screener questionnaire, a panel conversation, and—if endorsed—a follow-up conversation to build a plan for how Real Safety PAC can best assist.
To apply for endorsement, fill out the screener questionnaire below (or click here). For any questions, email info@realsafetypac.com.
